Creative Bath Storage Ideas

Hi, everyone, I'm Susi and I write as a guest blogger for Design Shuffle, a fabulous social media site that promotes Interior Designers and their work from around the world. My writing focuses on things I'm passionate about; interior design, home decorating ideas, home furnishings, gardening, travel and art. I get to look at gorgeous things all day and write about them. I'm a very lucky girl!

Thanks, Marie, for inviting me and Design Shuffle to visit Decorator on Demand to talk about creative bathroom storage. I just saw the article on suzanis... and just wanted to say that I share the suzani love. Not sure if suzanis would work in the bathroom (maybe as a towel pattern), but I think I've come up with some great examples of creative bathroom storage ideas. Hope you enjoy them!

The humble, versatile Mason jar makes great storage for small stuff in the bathroom. Mounted with pipe clamps, this is a clever DIY project.
Martha Stewart via
Finding extra space for storage in a small bathroom definitely takes some creativity. Above the door is the perfect place for extras that you don't need every day.
My Home Ideas via
Walls provide ample opportunities for additional storage. A hanging basket system designed for the kitchen works to hold towels, soaps and other bathroom essentials. This is definitely one of those very useful bathroom design ideas.
Real Simple via
Reuse and repurpose flea market finds for clever storage solutions. Old wood crates have a natural vintage charm.
Better Homes and Gardens via
Colorful metal buckets make for charming cottage or beach style storage. Would be cute in a kids' bathroom too.
Beyond the Baby via
A ladder bookcase works in the bathroom to store towels and other essentials without taking up a large footprint. A vintage wood ladder leaning against the wall would work too.
Katy Elliot via
A small piece of furniture, like an tagre or side table with a shelf, makes a lovely storage space in the bathroom. Measure the space and look for small tables, bookcases and cabinets that will fit.
Boho Bed Love via
Natural elements, like these wood bowls, make for interesting storage ideas. Think outside the ordinary for creative bathroom ideas and clever storage solutions.

Dining room decorating deliberations, Part 2

If you?re wondering where Dining room decorating deliberations, Part 1 went to? it?s not here!! It?s my guest post today over at Nancy's blog, Marcus Design. So you?ll have to check out Nancy?s blog to see what happened in Part 1 :-) I?m sneaky ? I mean clever ? eh?? :-)

Last Friday, there was a retirement party at work for my manager. After 26 years, he decided it?s time to move on. He told us that this past July while he was swimming in the pool at his hotel in Managua, Nicaragua, he had a revelation. He decided that he was going to go back to school in the Netherlands for 16 months, and then he?ll do volunteer work in China, Africa, and South America. When I swim, I just think about decorating :-)

Which brings me to the point of this post ? last weekend while I was swimming at the cottage, I had a decorating revelation. You might remember this teaser post when I let you in the colours I was going to use in the dining room. Well, I did go ahead and paint the DR back in the spring, but I?m not totally convinced that it?s what I want. *Sigh*

I recently saw a really cool wallpaper in the October issue of Style At Home, but I don?t have anywhere to hang it. It?s from Osborne & Little and it?s called Sariskar Marahani.

And then last Sunday afternoon while I was doing the backstroke, it hit me ? I could repaint the dining room and change the colour scheme to work with this beautiful indigo blue wallpaper. It?s not like I?ve never painted a room and then painted it again. And again. And? you get the point!!

The cool thing about this paper is that it has some similarities to this Sherwin Williams trend for 2011 ? Restless Nomad.

These are a few of the colours from this trend ? clockwise from upper left are SW 7602 Indigo Batik, SW 6551 Purple Passage, SW 6300 Burgundy, and SW 6840 Exuberant Pink:

I like these colours a lot :-) But do I like them enough to repaint the entire dining room?? Hmmmm? well, no need to worry. It just so happens that the same wallpaper pattern comes in colours that work with what I already have:

I know, it?s a pretty wild pattern!! But I have a plan, really? and if you want to see what it is, you?ll have to go over to Nancy?s blog to read Dining room decorating deliberations, Part 1 :-)

A quick Art for Life Campaign update: Matt has just passed the $20,000 mark. That?s a whole lot of money going towards cancer research!!

Charmaine Olivia @ Fey Handmade

The lovely Christine is always surprising me with her beautiful and unexpected picks for her online shop Fey Handmade. I was recently perusing her site to see what new goodies had arrived when I happened upon the artwork of San Francisco based artist Charmaine Olivia. I was immediately enchanted with the sketchy drawings and rich photographs that she has created. With a cool 70's vibe her art is right up my alley, I can definately imagine these beauties adorning my walls. Love, love the Fox Masque featured above.

Randomness, my apologies

Okay, I just got in my email box a VERY old blog posting from April 2010 called #23!!  I haven't looked at that blog post since I wrote it back then and quite frankly I haven't even been in my Blogger today, so I thought I really needed to post this to apologize to all of you out there...Especially one like that.

Wish I knew how that happened...Are we becoming so reliant on computers and technology we are losing control?
