Les Macarons

Ladure is a prestigious French maison of pastries and cakes, famous also for the incredibly light shells of meringue with the most delicious flavors of ganache inside, called macarons in French.

The macarons were introduced to France by  Caterina de? Medici, a wealthy Florentine who in 1533, at the age of fourteen, married the future King Henry II of France, who was also of the same age at the time.  The Florentine cooks who went with her brought the secrets of Italian cooking  including canard a l?orange and the pastry makers used their innovative genius with sorbets and ice creams,  pastries and of course pasta dishes.

In September 2011 another Ladure store will open in Milan, the second one in a few years, and it will be designed by the famous French architect  Jean Nouvel.  I can?t wait to see it (well actually not just to see...)

If you have a few moments enjoy the sweet, in every sense, Ladure website (HERE) it will bring you back to your childhood!

Paint Color #3 and #4

I lost a week of paint colors due to being sick for a week. So I am introducing 2:  Paint Color #3 Goose Muffin and Paint Color #4 Bubble.

Goose Muffin is named after my Shar-pei, Lulabelle. I have nicknames for all my dogs and cats. Here she is: my funny girl, my goose muffin!

I love whites so here we are again with another white. Unlike the last 2  - snowball, my pure white and wagging white, my off white.

Goose Muffin is like a glass of milk  - white but with a creamer base.

I love it mixed with black. A great contrast!

Check out this wallpaper from Fromental

Bubble is my office manager's Pomeranian. This is the perfect shade of soft pink - very subtle. I have a living room done in this color but no photos yet!

It would be great with this Serena Lily headboard:

Or pair with navy accents!  Check these out on Etsy from the Pink Pagoda

I hope you are enjoying this series 76 weeks of color!  The proof of the fan deck should be here in 2 weeks!  Yeah!

DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS

One of my favorite aspects of the design world is when talented artists and designers come together to put on an event for a cause and DIFFA is the perfect example for just that. The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS is launching their 12th National Tour of DINING BY DESIGN tomorrow in New York City where thousands of supporters will come together to enjoy the breathtaking installations that the top photographers, architects, fashion, consumer product, and interior designers have put together for this amazing event.

Founders Patricia Green and Larry Pond started this organization in 1984 and since then DIFFA has granted millions of dollars to hundreds of HIV/AIDS focused groups that engage in preventive education, patient treatment, and public policy. On top of supporting a great cause, this gives supporters a great opportunity to experience a collection of fine design that is appreciated by everyone. Here's a peek from last year's event - I'll be sure to write up an updated post with designs from 2009!

Did you buy an Art for Life painting??

If you did, take a look and see if you can find yours!!

matt1 matt2Mine is in the second picture, first one of the left in row 8.

These are the 200 paintings that Matt LeBlanc created for his Art for Life Campaign. When Matt started his campaign to raise $25,000 for cancer research on March 24th, it seemed like such a long and challenging path he had set out on. I?m sure it wasn?t easy, but here we are, six months later, and Matt has completed all 200 paintings and raised OVER $25,000!!!

Tonight, Matt finally gets to relax and celebrate his amazing accomplishment at his Art for Life Gala. All 200 paintings will be on display at the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre in Dieppe, New Brunswick. If you live live in the Dieppe/Moncton area, drop by and check it out. For those of us who can?t make it to the gala, Matt is planning to have a live stream from the Gala on his web site starting tonight at 7:00 Atlantic Daylight Time.

Congratulations Matt? YOU ROCK!!!

THIS OR THAT: CLASSIC VS. CONTEMPORARY LIVING ROOM!

Happy Halloween!  No scary stuff this Halloween on COCOCOZY.  Just another THIS OR THAT!

Two living rooms...reversed.

One classic cottage with more dark blue tones...the  other a contemporary look with white being predominant.

Layouts are similar but rooms look very different.  It is like they are the reverse of each other.

In the classic room, a navy sofa with contrast white piping is surrounded by wicker and rattan side chairs and side tables.  Two matching prints decorate the wall between the natural blind covered windows and a jute rug covers the floor.  This room feels cottage like and beachy to me.

In the contemporary room below, all of the accents have a little sparkle to them...instead of two framed prints,  a sunburst mirror is in between the matching windows. A shiny white lacquer coffee table, mirrored side tables, and a white sofa all make for a modern space.  The Moroccan inspired touches in the room like the white leather pouf and the trellis rug add some international flavor to the space.

Hmmm...which one do you prefer?

I think if I had to take one room as is, it would be the contemporary one.  If I could make some changes, I think there elements in both rooms that really work.  What do you think?  THIS OR THAT?  Which living room do you prefer?

Happy Monday!

DOX-A-LANTERNS

Mouse would like to remind everyone that it's pumpkin carving season again. And, yes, that is
our little superstar modeling the latest dog-a-lantern stencils for Better Homes & Gardens.
If she doesn't look happy here it's only because
of her superior method acting... it's Halloween after all and she should show a good scare.
