I am loving these sweet paper garlands and mobiles from Royal Buffet. They are so light and airy. Who doesn't want a collection of swinging butterflies made from vintage french magazine pages dancing in the corner of any room?

Inspiration and tips for organizing your craft space

The better organized and pretty your craft space, the more you are going to get out of it. Below are a few tips for getting it back in shape and lots of eye candy full of inspiration. These are coming at you from BHG. My additions are in italics.

Clean Out Clutter.

Test all the craft supplies you own, including paints, markers, and glues. Do the same with tools such as scissors, staplers, and punches. Toss everything that doesn't work. Put similar items in clear plastic containers with handles.

Storage for Small Gear.

Hang a clear vinyl shoe bag inside a closet or behind a door. Slip small parts, supplies, and tools into the pouches. If you have no door/closet in your work space - try a small rolling cart with lots of little drawers.

Hang Fabric.

Drape fabric scraps and swatches over rubber-coated hangers intended for multiple pairs of pants. Hang from hooks on the back of a door. Different fabrics need special treatment - even draping velvet over a hanger can damage it This post from Entirely Smitten has great storage ideas, which includes creating your own little minibolts, to using storage boxes originally intended for CDs and other items.

Organize Ideas.

Purchase eight to 10 sturdy letter boxes and fill with inspirational materials from books, magazines, photographs, and online searching. Organize and label boxes by topic, source, or project. Stack near a chair or desk and use an extra counter, end table, or resting spot. I organize my inspiration and ideas in binders. I fill the binders with clear page protectors and slip my inspiration in the sleeves. It is a really fast way to literally flip through my inspiration. I have a binder for graphic design, hair and makeup, workouts, packaging design, etc.

Chintz happens

I can?t remember where I read the phrase ?Chintz happens? , but I decided it just had to be a blog post title!!

Chintz is defined as ?calico cloth printed with flowers and other devices in different colours? and ?a printed and glazed cotton fabric, usually of bright colors?. Most of us associate chintz with traditional interiors filled with flowery fabrics and wallpaper ? sometimes MATCHING fabric and wallpaper (brace yourself!!).

Ouch!! Looks like Laura Ashley exploded. But today?s take on chintz isn?t quite as? well, blinding!! In fact, chintz can be quite fresh and funky when it?s done right. Like on these pretty chairs:

And this sofa ? love the red piping :-)

The green & white chintz bedding and white gauzy canopy give this bed a tropical look?

Although the chintz-covered chairs are traditional, they?re given a modern edge paired with the simple desk.

Again, a traditional chair covered in chintz has a more modern feel in this bold red room. Did you notice that chintz & cheetah cushions are happily co-existing on the sectional??

An all-white bedroom gets pop of colour from a vase of red tulips and a chintz throw hung over the footboard.

The huge table lamp and simple white bedding give a modern edge to this bedroom with matching chintz curtains and chairs. The room has a sort of worldly vibe to it.

Inspiring Spaces: Cotherstone

When I first got into Interior Design about 10 years ago I tended to lean towards spaces that were very perfect looking. Color, balance, style, were all very harmonious but when I look at some of these interiors now I think they look too perfect and not as livable. When I was in college studying Interior Design I found that it is harder to create interior spaces that look effortlessly together. I have come to appreciate more room designs that have a lot of character and furniture and decor looks as if it took awhile to accumulate instead of buying everything at once.

Currently I want to spend my time here. :)
